Hurricane Irene: The aftermath

No more free Coconuts!!

Good morning Friends,

Thank you for all your kind words and sentiments during the Hurricane. Irene has officially passed, and for the most part she has left Nassau, Grand Bahama and my home partially unscathed. I’m missing some shingles, and the roof has a few leaks. But I’m in good spirits and happy.

Unfortunately some of our other islands didn’t fare as well. Cat Island, Rum Cay, Crooked Island, Acklins and Mayaguana suffered major damage. Many people are without homes, there is no power and many of the settlements are cut off , because of downed trees and flooding.

Fortunately, there has been no casualties reported from any of the islands. I was very tempted to sneak out the house and capture some great photos for you guys, but in the essence of not putting myself in harms way intentionally, I decided against it!

Thank you all once again for your prayers. Now I will be shifting my prayers to the Carolinas.
